Ashton Gate Stadium will play host to a prestigious Under-21 international friendly fixture between England and Uzbekistan in August.

The match - on Tuesday, August 10th – will be the Under-21s' fourth visit to Bristol.

Their last visit to City's stadium came in August 2007 when Stuart Pearce's side held Romania 1-1 in front of more than 18,500 fans.

The other two previous encounters at Ashton Gate both ended in victories; against Italy 1-0 in February 1997 and over Turkey by three goals to nil back in 1985.

City's managing director Doug Harman told bcfc.co.uk: "We're absolutely delighted to be welcoming the Under-21s back to Ashton Gate.

"Stuart Pearce brought his team here three years ago and was thrilled with the pitch, hospitality and facilities on offer.

"A lot of hard work has gone into gaining another showpiece fixture and hopefully the Bristol public will turn out in force just like they did three years ago."

The Under-21 team that played in Bristol three years ago included James Milner and Joe Hart, both members of the current England squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
